Midwest Perzine Fest at CZF 2024 / Perzine Alley
We're excited that at this year's CZF we'll be joined by the organizers of the Midwest Perzine Fest. They're not only presenting a panel discussion about the importance of zines, but they've selected a subset of CZF 2024 zinesters to be a part of Perzine Alley! While you're at the fest, be sure to celebrate the power of personal stories by visiting the zinesters designated with Perzine Alley signage and hear more about their creations!
Transportation Information
🚗 There is no dedicated parking for the Columbia Student Center. The closest paid parking lot is the building next door, 7th Street Garage Parking, at 710 S Wabash Ave.
🚇🚌 The venue is just 0.2 miles from the Harrison station (L red line), 0.4 miles from the Harold Washington Library Station (L brown, orange, pink, purple lines), and 0.6 miles from the LaSalle station (L blue line). It is accessible by multiple bus lines.
🚲 There are multiple bike racks next to the Student Center on 8th Street.
Accessibility Information
The Student Center meets all requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA).
- Gender-neutral and ADA-accessible restrooms are located on each floor of the Student Center.
- CZF will be located on the fifth floor, with workshops on other floors; there is a bank of elevators that provides access to each floor, in addition to stairs.
- There is a nursing/lactation room located on the 4th floor in room 432, but nursing is allowed in any area.
- Find photos of the venue's rooms at the Columbia College Student Center webpage. Zinester tables will be in the Event Space and Exhibition Hall on the fifth floor.
COVID Considerations
Our primary COVID-mitigation strategies include:
- free KN95 masks (adult and child-size) available at the entrance
- 5 air purifiers (4 SmartAir Blast Mini purifiers for the main exhibit space, 1 smaller purifier for the workshop room)
- 2 CO2 monitors to provide information about the air quality in the workshop room and the main exhibit space.
We are asking everyone who attends CZF 2024, either as an tabler or visitor, to wear a mask. While we cannot guarantee that everyone will wear a mask, we want to ensure CZF will remain as accessible as possible. N95, KN95, and KF94 masks are strongly preferred, because they are more effective than surgical masks at reducing the spread of COVID.
Other COVID-mitigation strategies include giving each zinester their own table to ensure adequate spacing and refunding registration fees for any tabler who feels ill at the time of the fest. The fifth floor (where zinester tables will be located) has a small outdoor balcony where tablers and attendees may feel more comfortable eating or taking breaks. We encourage everyone to test before the event, especially if traveling to Chicago, and request that you not attend CZF if you test positive for COVID.
