Friday

1 - 3pm Silver Tongue Presents Gender Race and Sexuality: A Discussion with Women in Self-Publishing
with Cristy Road, Mimi Thi Nguyen, and Anne Elizabeth Moore
@ The Conaway Center at Columbia College 1104 S Wabash
The first event of the weekend is presented by the Silvertongue Reading Series and features Columbia student readers and a moderated discussion with Cristy Road, Mimi Thi Nguyen and Anne Elizabeth Moore.
This event is downtown and parking is metered on the street or there are parking lots nearby. Make it easier on yourself, take the Red, Green or Orange line to Roosevelt, take a left out of the station, and a left on Wabash.  The Conaway is just a few blocks north.
This event will have an ASL interpreter.

6 - 7pm Youth Reading @826CHI 1331 N Milwaukee
Come support the next generation of zine makers at 826 CHI.
7 - 9pm Exhibitor reading @826 CHI 1331 N Milwaukee
Zinesters from near and far will read their work at 826 CHI.
If you are a reader, please arrive at or before 6:30 prepared to read.  Check in with us and we'll let you know the order of readers there.  Also, please be aware there will be an ASL interpreter present and signing the reading (and all Friday events except karaoke).
826CHI is located in Wicker Park.  Metered street parking is available or free side streets parking--just be careful it's not permit parking.  Located just a block North of the Division Blue Line Stop on the CTA.
*Note that you enter 826CHI through The Boring Store entrance on Milwaukee
These events will have an ASL interpreter.

9:30pm - 12am Zine Olympics @Quimby's 1854 W North Ave
Billy the Bunny will be MC'ing the 2012 Spring Zine Olympics!  Show off your stapling chops, or come and hang out at the store.
Quimby's is also located in Wicker Park about a mile from 826CHI.  There is metered parking on North Ave and side street parking North of North (again, be careful not to park in permit parking).  Quimby's is 2 blocks East of the Damen Blue Line Stop on the CTA.

Saturday

Zine Exhibition @The Conaway Center at Columbia College 1104 S Wabash
9 - 9:45am Exhibitor sign-in and set up. Sign in at the front table on the first floor, you will be told your table assignment, and be given a program & "zinester" button.  Volunteers will be available to escort you to your table, and if needed, help carry your stuff.  We encourage you get to the fest as early as you can to allow for the most amount of set up time.  If you pre-ordered a t-shirt this is also where you will pick it up.  There is a loading zone right in front of the building on Wabash. If driving, we recommend dropping a person off to check in with your stuff and then going to find parking.   There are two sets of elevators in the building, one right when you walk in, and one in the back of the building, we will have signs to lead you to the back ones, which may be less crowded throughout the day.

--What to Bring---
*Enough zines to cover your table space but not overflow into other people's space, remember there are going to be over 200 exhibitors showing their zines, we want there to be room for everyone.
*A table cloth if you'd like to dress up your tabling space.  Just make sure it doesn't hang over into walkways or take up more than your table space.
*Snacks!  The day is long--there are nearby grocery stores and restaurants and there will be a food cart outside to purchase food but it's always good to be prepared.  Fruit, granola bars, etc are great to pack.  Two great local businesses will be supplying coffee and there will be some small snacks on hand, but don't count on being fed!
*If you're running a workshop make sure you have all the materials you need for it.  From paper to pens, we will be unable to supply things day of (with some advance warning we can make most anything happen within reason!)
*Extra Zines.  We will have a donation zine box for a raffle prize. Also while in Chicago consider dropping off zines to sell on consignment to Quimby's.  Also, local zinesters should consider donating a copy of their zine to the Read/Write Library, which will have a table at the fest. The Read/Write Library archives independent publishing in Chicago.
*There will also be a free table on the first floor, if you have free materials for people to pick up.

10 - 11am Exhibitor Hour We are trying something different this year, and giving exhibitors an hour to the fest by themselves.  From 10 - 10:30am we encourage 1st floor exhibitors to visit the 8th floor, and check out the zines being exhibited there.  From 10:30 - 11am, we encourage 8th floor exhibitors to visit the 1st floor and check out the zines being exhibited there.  The idea is to meet and connect with other zinesters when you don't feel obligated to be behind your own table.  We ask that exhibitors try to be behind your table when the other floor is visiting your floor.  Hopefully during the day, you will be able to sneak away from your table for a bit to check out exhibitors on your own floor.

11am - 6pm Open Hours These hours are open to the public, and will involve workshops, panels, a film fest, and YOU showing off your zines!
The exhibition ends promptly at 6pm.  We have to be out of the Conaway Center by 7pm, so we would really appreciate your help in cleaning up your space, stacking your chair and table if possible and helping make sure everyone is getting packed up at 6pm after an awesome day of tabling!

Parking downtown is tricky--there are several cheaper parking lots a couple blocks away from the Conaway Center, some of which offer all day weekend parking. Make it easier on yourself, take the Red, Green or Orange line to Roosevelt, take a left out of the station, and a left on Wabash.  The Conaway is just a few blocks north.

FOOD on Saturday!
As mentioned above, we encourage you to bring your own snacks.
There are grocery stores and restaurants near by (these will be listed on our map you can get with the program), and we are working on getting a local vegan food truck to stop by during the day.
There are vending machines (snacks, ice cream, juice, etc) & a microwave on the first floor near the back elevators.
We have access to a catering room on the 8th floor which will be available to exhibitors and staff, which we plan on stocking with food and beverages you might need during the day.  We will have a volunteer staffing the room all day, but we ask you keep it clean, and be conscious about the amount of food you take (as it is feeding 200+ people).
Wormhole Coffee will be supplying free pour-over coffee to both exhibitors, staff and the public.  They will be brewing all day, but this method of brewing yields about 6 cups of coffee every 10 minutes, so we encourage you to be patient and engage Wormhole staff in conversation!
