Past Years' Fests at a glance:

The Chicago Zine Fest is a two-day celebration of zine culture. It is free to the public.

2011

Before festivities began, the Chicago Zine Fest hosted a Zine Organizers Event, at which zine event organizers from around the country discussed issues in planning events.

Friday March 25th started with Silver Tongue presenting student readers at Columbia College, followed by a moderated conversation between Al Burian and Aaron Cometbus.  Later that evening we had a youth zine reading, followed by an exhibitor reading at 826CHI.  The evening ended in a very social zinester Karaoke at Quimby's Bookstore, hosted by Shameless Karaoke.

Saturday March 26th featured 200 zinesters, 15 workshops and a film festival.  After the fest we held an "out of this world" (in)Formal dance!

2010
On the evening of Friday, March 12, to kick off the fest, Quimby's bookstore hosted a zine reading featuring exhibitors from the Chicago Zine Fest. Johalla Projects hosted a zine art show, the Gadabout Film, and short films by Lilli Carré.

The following day, Saturday, March 13, Columbia College and it's fiction department will hosted a day of exhibiting. Come down to the Conaway Student Center to browse hundreds of titles from indepedent authors and artists from the Chicago area and beyond. Most zines will be on sale for anywhere from $1-10, generally averaging at $3 or $4. Some zines will even be free! Come prepared to leave with an armful of great reading material and new connections with many artists from the region.

Check back soon for more details. A list of exhibitors will be posted as they come on, so check back frequently to keep up with what you can expect from the CZF.
